Omg, I love love love the Ford Focus. The color is also quite on point. And we don't have that many super charging stations or even a single one in Saskatoon as well, so yeah, it wouldn't make sense to drive a Tesla, at this point I think anyway lol. Thank you! Yeah, in other news, I allowed my driver's license to expire to the tune of 8 years, 5 years is the cut off point, thereafter you have to complete the road and written tests again and are treated as a new driver. So yeah, basically right now studying the hand book so I can go write the test tomorrow, pass it and be given a learner's license with which I can use to get the car released from the dealership as without a license I can't insure it, without insurance you can't have it released from the dealership. Guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Funnily enough there was also a fine on my license, nothing too serious, just a red light camera fine that I didn't pay shortly before I sold my car all those years ago, but now everything is settled and I can do my written then road tests. Happy days I guess.
Wow, that sounds like a process but it will be only formality for you. So it expired because you did not renew it? Here is US, I am not sure how I would make it expired, just curious. Either way, get that license and grab a wheel, it will be fun for sure. ;-)
Yeah, the written test was really easy when I did it last time all those years ago, in fact when the lady at the window heard I had to do it she said "You can even do it now" to which I replied "But, I haven't studied!", she looked at me with great surprise on her face as if she wanted to say "People study for that thing?" as everything is literally common sense in the test, but I have to be sure, and so I am studying... again. I'd rather be over prepared, than fail by one point then have to wait longer. I'm not sure about the U.S., maybe someone like @Dyre Straits could reply about that, but basically I'm certainly looking forward to getting behind the wheel again, although this time not being young, it will be to drive Miss Daisy -comfortably- and not to zoom around town like a mad man.
Yes, I hear you, better safe than sore, I would study as well. Here , in US, I would say the questions are formulated the way it is many times very hard to understand them, even for native speakers as I have seen some very stupid and unclear questions. If you do not want to study, you just take the test as many times as probability finally wins and you pass. I heard many people do just that. I am saying that as I helped my wife to study for it and I have no problems with understanding English common language but some of these questions were formulated by idiots, yes, that is the word. Looking forward to your experiences as driving Miss Daisy happens. ;-) Another great movie by the way (in my book of course)
if you're stuck on a learners license.... you're going to have to drive like a saint... and far as i know, it requires you to have a person that has a drivers license with you ANY time you wish to drive, you won't be able to hop in the car anytime you like. imo it's rather fucked up that after 5 years without a license, you have to go through the whole thing. And in the last 10 or so years, the learners requirements and penalties as well as length you're required to have it before getting a full one, is simply ridiculous. I'm glad i had my learners at 15, and my full drivers at 16, these days people are stuck on a learners till they are 21, and if you fuck up at all during those first 5-6 years.... you lose it entirely for quite awhile and have to start over. Frankly it's like the government went insane and has determined that people shouldn't be able to be self sufficient requiring everyone to drive them around, because public transit is very minimal in saskatoon, and out in the countryside, simply doesn't exist. A hell of a lot of farmers are pissed off for good reason.
Oh I know, learner's licenses have a lot of limitations, such as having a full driver in the passenger seat for example, and doing virtually everything by the book. I'll get to a full license anyway, it is harder now but not impossible.
When we (my family at the time) moved from Missouri to Georgia...way back in 1972, we had to get new drivers' licenses for the new state. It involved a simple written test. I did no studying at all and Ace-d the test. The "other half", though, stumbled over something as simple as: How soon should one use a turn signal before making a turn?" She selected something like X number of feet. The actual...and suggested.... answer is/was: Soon enough to allow the other driver to make adjustments to their driving. Totally nothing but common sense. After all, a lot of it depends on just what the speed limit on THAT road and how fast everyone is driving.
So a bit of an update, Signs = Passed, Driving Skills = failed, by 2 questions too many (you're only allowed to get 4 wrong, 80% is the pass mark). So I'm retaking Driving Skills on Monday. So until then, the Benz sits. Edit: And this was supposed to be the easy part lol. Otherwise, today I kind of took off, tomorrow I will relax too, and then end of tomorrow I'll just brush up on the part that gave me trouble in the test, and go in again Monday morning. It has been nice to game again after a week of studying boring driving stuff. Lol.
