Pictures coming soon of my 86 Camaro.
Just need to steal the camera I bought for my fiance for a second.
Corvette's still use LEAF SPRINGS for their suspension... I don't mind american cars (OMG the Ford GT) but most of em are really nothign compared to their equavelent european rivals. They are usually slower, handle always worse and all...
They are cheaper though but that's normal... Corvette ain't luxury.
Optional in the suspending category is GMs slick, Magnetic Selective Ride Control...
~yeah, that's do outdated technology.. :dead:
You also forgot to mention it is a transverse leaf spring system, not some pick-up truck type setup.

So what Corvette was that? Also-
Horsepower sells cars (to people who don't know much about cars)
-and Torque moves cars.. Not peak torque, but the torque all across the rev range.
Anyway- Dollar for Dollar, you will never find a better deal than a Corvette. On top of that, those engines can easily be modified to put out 1000+ HP.
But since the Corvette is American, I guess it sucks..
Oh, and check the prices of all those cars.. that will shed some light on the situation.
Couldn't help but saying..
it isn't supposed to be! :duh:
Dude I know what BHP and Torque is... And the corvette is not the king in either. The car with the most Torque in the world is a Mercedes (AMG Modified) and BHP is the veyron...
I DID say (if you read my posts) that the corvette is really cheap for what you get.
And I said that I loved the GT which if I'm not mistaken, IS ACTUALLY american...
And corevette is supposed to be the 911 of america. It's not in the same deal as a toyata prius. A 911 ain't luxrury but it's still a million times better than a cadillac...
But you obviously don't really read my posts so who cares?
EDIT. fine, i'm lookin at prices..
Corvette is 43k$
Porsche Cayman is 58k$
Ariel Atom (which is DAMN FAST) is only 53k$
lol prices aren't that different... and you get sooo much more in the other cars (interior)
i must give credit to the americans for building a car thats atleast worthy of challenging its european competitors....nonetheless that doesnt mean corvette's are good...in fact its quite the oposite. no one who has money will choose a vette over a 911 or an european supercar. the interior quality is abysmal, the ride is horrific and as sandok rightly said, it uses leaf suspension.
there's a reason why american cars are cheaply made than the europeans: they skimp on quality over quantity and they dont aim for perfection. for instance....
for the price, the vette is a good deal; but it still falls behind. as someone rightly said:
The Z06 is a pretty good car for the money, but you cannot go past the fact that it has a pushrod engine, leafspring suspension, a plastic body and a horrible interior.
If you can afford a GT or Enzo, then you would only buy a Z06 if you:
a) Needed a very fast "every day car" that you could take into carpark buildings etc.
b) Weren't overly fussed on fine engineering or design, or even build quality.
c) Wanted to support local industry (if you lived in the US)
d) A lack of automotive knowledge.
e) Didn't want to spend millions on a car.
f) Were too scared to drive a multi-million dollar car, for fear of dents/scrapes etc.

That thing doesn't even have an EXterior, let alone an interior.. LOL
Yeah I read your Corvette flame posts.... You can find anyone to say anything about anything on the internet- those quotes from the posts above are also BS.. I am not even a Corvette fan in general, but they are great sports cars, no matter what the cost. People that say otherwise are ignorant, and just believe the hype.
And what Corvette was used in that test you listed?
Standard... Otherwise, why would I post the standard price?
And yes the atom is just a race car, nothing more but you were talking price so ya...
The thing is, the corvette is just soo barbaric and thus, it ain't a good sports car. A good sports car must be FAST, turn heads, make a gorgeous sound, be exquisit inside and stand out.
Sure corvettes are great but there is a reason they only sell in the US and Canada and no where else in the world. It's cool, but nothing good otherwise EVERYONE would buy one (hell, according to you they are the best bang for the buck).
It's just, i've been in many porche's (including the cayman) and corvettes (the guys was a bit older but still very cool) and the porsche just felt quality.
That's just stupidity. You know what's the number one selling car for 2005? Guess....
It's the Ford F type truck thingy... Dunno the real name but just to tell you, ALL of them (well 99%) are sold in North America. That's it!!!! No one else buys em and it's the same with the corvette. They sell a WHOLE lot but noone else buys em.
There must be a reason? Maybe we are all stupid imbeiciles off the US or maybe, we actually do know something about cars. What do you think BWX?
EDIT: NVM mate... Everyone has different tastes I'm stopping but I'll leave the post anyways...
I'm just saying they aren't junk.. and anyone that thinks differently is ignorant. They are cool, fast, they look good, and are affordable..
Ignorant is not an insult, just saying people don't do all the research.. most car guys will agree that the Corvette is a great sports car, even if there are better ones.. That's all I am saying.. Yes I do agree that there are higher quality sports cars, you can say that about almost any sports car.. There is always cars made to higher standards. the thing is most people can only afford so much, and the Corvette is a a way to get SUPERCAR performance without the SUPERCAR price.
About that test you listed. what I was getting at is that it wasn't a Z06, which is faster that the "regular" Corvette, thus faster, and still affordable to a large group of people that the other cars would not be..
Hey, I am a car guy, I appreciate them all, but I won't bash one, especially a great sports car like the late model Vette's.. just because there are manufactured to higher quality standards (which you pay for)...
If I had the money, I wouldn't buy a Corvette either- I would buy a Mitsu EVO or Subby Sti.. Just because for me they make more sense for the climate I live in. For a guy that buys a Civic and tastefully modifies it to be fast, look good, and have fun with, I won't bash his car either, even though I wouldn't buy one..
I am not trying to flame war here, just explaining mine and many other's POV.
I agree with you on a lot of points too but I just think there are better cars that maybe aren't as fast but give that sporty feeling too...
And ya, if I had unlimited money I'd never get that either. But just one thing, that ain't supercar performance.... Supercars are the beasts in position 1-5... It's sports car
Ahh... but the Z06 is.. 500HP with that power to weight ratio + the handling... It is supercar performance, and with a supercharger bolted on (or two), it would be all that much faster. Still, I would have more fun going sideways in the snow with an EVO or STi..
ahhh thought u were talking about the standard... And i still don't think it'd be up to a GT from ford and all... I mean, the atom has only 210bhp but still that's supercar. Bigger ain't better
Ok - I had to post this- I found it interesting... then I am done I promise.. :duh:
Change your mind? It did it with the horrible leaf springs too.. Thing is, the springs only do so much, it is the damping that really control the car. Anyway- it is a supercar, in anyone's book.. Look at those numbers.
Edit- exige must hate those numbers... LOL..
 Okay I'll shut my mouth up....
Didn't think it'd be that good... Wow well kudos! The Z06 is worthy (as a machine)
I enjoy a friendly debate. I would never have seen those results at "the ring" with the Z06 if I didn't look just now.. I learned something too.. I am pretty impressed with the numbers, better than I thought too actually..
I forgot the link.
