Well.. so much for my Gamespot membership. The page that allows us to download the Prey demo RIGHT NOW (US;9PM PT) just went belly up. Where the count time clock was .. is now only a link to the video of the walkthru? D'OH..

Found it at http://www.download.com/Prey-demo/3000-7453_4-10552043.html?tag=lst-0-2 . Started at 1100KB sec.. now at a substanded 300KB /sec with the free link. Woot..

er.. my KB is dropping.. now 289Kb.. >sniff< :tears:

Maybe I shouldn't have said anything until I got mine.. ;) I'm down to 175KB/sec and dropping.. :(

Considering it's supposed to be released tomorrow.. I guess we can't complain too much. Enjoy the link.

I have their membership and I can't even get the link to GET it from Gamespot. :( BOOoo.. sounds like the time it was worth it -- they let down.. time to cancel methinks.
My current download at download.com is still going and is locked at 137kb now.. about 32 mins left. Looks like I got in before they pulled it. WHEW.

    Woot. installing now!!..

    I can't afford both Gamespot and Fileplanet sub's.. :(

    EDIT:

Finished single player mode.. WOW. Must buy for me. I really love how it ran .. smooth. Once I set the refresh rate in the .ini file to 85Hz it was perfect. Walking around at 45fps and sometimes standing still I got 60. 1280x with ALL maxed in menus.. (odd I didn't see opitions that I know my card can't do, like shader 3.0) Guess we can set in the .ini.

I won't discuss it much for now.. off to try Multi player..

I got it from gamespot around 260k/sec not bad but filefront is better.

    Mini Demo review:

    Whats good:
-Tons of gore! The walls practically vomit body parts at you.
-Great setup with main character and alien invasion
-Great graphics seemless portals all over the place. I nearly died shooting through one and my bullets came out behind me then I saw something coming through the portal in front of me and shot it but it was me! Confused? Just wait till you start rotating all the walls...

    Whats bad:
-Vertigo and motionsickness could be a problem...don't play while drunk (especially you GDF)
    -Uninspiring enemies so far

My half dead soon to be RMA's vid card ran this demo at 1280x1024 all settings maxed with 4xAA :D Good stuff.

umm wow, very impressive to say the least. runs amazingly well too.

right now im running at 1024x768, everything maxed (autodetect) 2xaa, 16xAF, adaptive AA. 90% of the time im at or above 30fps. most definatly works for me.

interesting to see it supports the logitech G15 keyboard too. hopefully they fix the widescreen options for release, you can select 16:9 and 16:10 modes but you dont seem to get the resolutions like 1920x1200 in the menu :sigh: time for more cfg hacking ala quake4 I guess.

i thought it was ok, some good ideas, a decent enough engine but nothing out of the ordinary. the enemies are REALLY poor, souless, lifeless cardboard cutout things....:sigh:
