A friendly anonymous teaser here from a very good website that currently is reviewing a 9700...Due to NDA I can't state which website this is but I can tell it is a good reliable one.
The NDA is up on monday so you can then see which website this is from :)

DungeonSiege which is a CPU limited game and benchmark...

Dungeon Siege 4X AA + 16X quality (Trilinear) aniso @ 1600x1200x32 very nearly double an 8500's NORMAL (i.e. No AA, no Aniso) FPS

The NV30 *finally* taped out this week.

There are chips presently being made, but no cards (that we know of) yet.

Don't forget the 9700's require a seperate power supply (the AGP bus doesn't supply enough) & they are DX9/8xAGP optimized. The truth of how well they (& the NV30, et al) actually perform will come when DX9 & AGP8x are implemented. Prolly well into 2003+.

I'll wait for the Trident XP4 @ 70% performance of a 9700, no seperate power supply, 128mb DDR RAM, DX9 & 25% of the price. The $300+ I don't spend on a 'card' can go to a nice mobo, DDRRAM &/or a new CPU. :D

    JAV
    GBA!

Anyone know of any OGL benchies on the 9000/9700's?

Probably a good Idea, but I'm going to wait for some good Benchs from Trident before I think of purchasing..

    Re:

I doubt the Tridnet card will be able to produce the speculated 70% of the 9700, or 80% of the Ti4600 performance numbers.

According to the preview at Anandtech, the 9700 scored way higher than ~10% better than the Ti4600, so I am confused about Trident's claim. If their card is truly performs at 70% of the 9700, that would mean it is faster than the Ti4600. In that case, I will definately get one if they will be under $100.

Does it really matter if a high-powered card needs an external power source?
