HERE! The Driver is DOOMED! It looks to me that the 5.4 Omega dont work right with Germans XP Version or/and with my X800. Ive got the same Problem like yours "a black Screen". The older 5.2 Version of Omega rocks without a Problem. Ive tried to make a fresh Win XP Install, but same error again = No Signal/Black Picture from my X800 to the Monitor. The Dos Screen and Win XP is loading Screen works right. edit: btw: The Install works without a Error :duh:
still have bad performance on 9800 pro in H-L2 (the same when using CAT5.3 and 5.4) going back to 2.6.0.5a and waiting for cat 5.5
THe install seems to go alright for me, but as soon as I get the the logon part of the reboot, I get a blue screen, with a warning to check my memory, and then a memory dump to the hard drive. Starting in safe mode, in th hardware manager the drivers are apparently installed. After a system restore, everything works fine again. I have always used Omegas, and usually just install over top of the old ones. After my first failure I tried uninstalling and driiver cleaning, but get the same blue screen. Any suggestions? I have the exact same card as you, but I had no problem installing the new driver, (after the reboot, go through the hardware install wizard, install the new drivers, reboot, and then go into your display properties, and enable the ATI taskbar, and then you should have the control panel).
I'm using it at the moment and have no problems with it at all. Playing CSS and works great. However, I radlinker doesnt seem to work? It hangs whenever I try to enable clock rate change.
Thanks Spyre, we're waiting for valve again then are we.:sigh: That means a clean bill of health here for the new Omega's then.
Yeah right,....even fallback to some crappy old CATALYST 4 didn't do anything to the CS-S error. Seems to me, that patching HD-rendering into the source-engine isn't as easy, as Valve tells us
ok, guys im searching the whole day for the problem... and i found it: it was the modif. xt (16 pipes) bios on my x800pro vivo card.... it looks for me that something happens with the ramdac in there etc. that dont work right with the cat. 5.4 drivers. with a other xt-bios the driver 5.4 works without a problem now. sorry to omega that wasnt ur fault... but was it normal, that after the install some glitches/icons errors appears? i have read it in some forums the have some ppls too -> after a reboot all is fine. sorry for my bad english.
9800 soft mod is still not working. Also Radlinker is not installing with install option (I downloaded it seperatly). Looking forward to next update
I have an X800XL, and after running the setup file, only RadLinker was installed. If I attempted to run the setup.exe file in the OmegaDrivers install folder, I received an INF error. I could, however, install the new drivers by using "Update Driver..." in Device Manager. Hope that helps somebody.
Perhaps those that are having soft-mod issues could always give Riva Tuner a go using their patch script files or use prepatched files offered at TechPowerup
I just wanna thank Omega for his hard work, although I'm not going to use his 5.4s. I'm still back on the 4.12s, c'mon ATI, it's time to improve your drivers!
i think you are wrong ree, in fact i used the 5.4 patched ati2mtag.sys from techpowerup , you put it in X:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers\2KXP_INF\SwpDrv\ in there u have 3 folders, i usea a 9500 so ive put it in the 9700 folder, then i used the omega softmod swapper and voila, magic at first i tried only doing the omega softmod swap, but it was no good, not before ive downloaded the patched ati2mtag.sys
