Yeah, going a few days without sleep is dangerous, I've seen that happen to people.

I had a beautiful sleep last night, haven't slept that deeply in a long long looong time. It was wonderful, I'm fully rested and ready to take on the day. :)

It's a weird week in Serbia: due to our church calendar being off, it's Christmas week, so between that and New Year, we're both working and not working. I have a guest from (North) Macedonia and we wanted to take her to another city, but I got a meeting invite late last night. I decided to go as planned and just take my tablet (with the keyboard cover and a mouse) instead of the laptop. It worked perfectly, I got into the meeting, took notes, later connected to a Windows environment via Citrix and quickly did something urgent, all without having to lug the usual monstrosity: an entry level 15.6" ASUS ROG Strix, which is nice, but it's big and heavy, the power brick is big and heavy (and a must due to the abysmal battery life), the backpack in which I carry it is bulky and heavy, meaning today would have been much less fun with it on my back. I'm quite happy I got the little thing. :) :)

Ah, but an ASUS ROG Strix is still a seriously nice laptop for sure, glad you had a good time @IvanV. :)

Oh yeah, it's a beautiful machine, bless my boss who just went to the mall and bought it for me the same day my old laptop died. You just don't want to have it on your back a whole day. :)

Ok, this is dumb, but is it safe to answer a phone call from, most likely, a malicious caller?! As far as I'm aware, there is no exploit that can pwn my phone or incur charges simply by me picking up a call, or is there?!

I've had two calls from the same number in Ghana within several hours from each other today and I know it's fishy, but I'm really curious to know what the pitch is. Unless I'm somehow putting myself at risk by the act of answering alone. Which shouldn't be the case, but then, what's the idea?! Making an intercontinental call (which can't be cheap) to a random number in hope that the person on the other side a) speaks English (or whatever language) and b) is a numpty whom you can make send you money or whatever.

It's your long lost cousin Fred...

    He needs $140,000.00

but he's going to pay you back 3 million by direct bank deposit.

    Seems legit.

I'd really like to hear that! :D Seriously, though, someone's calling Serbia, of all places, hoping that the person in the other side is going to speak English and have X amount of money, let alone be willing to part with it...

On the other hand, one of my co-workers has bought into some Forex tips Facebook group, maybe I should give him the number that called me.

I just got another call, so I decided to pick it up. Unfortunately, I didn't understand 100% of what the other guy was saying and I forgot to press record. He claimed he called because he had a missed call from my number a couple of days ago and thought that I was someone in Ukraine (country code for Ukraine is +380, for Serbia it's +381). After realizing that he definitely had the wrong guy (whatever his intentions were), the man on the other side quickly said something about his operator and calling from Ghana and hang up.

EDIT: Maybe it was a reverse Nigerian scam, where I should send him money and he will get me out of the country?! The guy didn't seem in a hurry and asked how I was at first so... Perhaps I should have told him that I was the son of an Ukrainian oligarch that couldn't get out of the country because of the general mobilization and asked him to provide me with some money to escape the country, after which I would get access to our family funds on Caiman Islands and reimburse him generously?!

So... apparently, a military reconnaissance drone crashed in Zagreb, Croatia, after malfunctioning and flying there all the way from Ukraine and across the whole of Hungary. According to the initial findings, it is believed to be a Tupoloev Tu-141, a Soviet era drone that was supposed to have been retired back in 1989, 33 years ago. When I think about the Cold War era, unmanned aircraft do not come to mind, yet this was a device that flew in the seventies, replacing a previous design from the early sixties.

I guess it's my own fault to think about unmanned aircraft as a modern invention, when the Nazi V1 was essentially that - an unmanned aircraft, loaded with explosives, designed to be guided and crashed into a target, but still...

EDIT: Here's a pic from Wikipedia:

Seems somebody's targeting was a little less than accurate...

The most serious military analysts (those from the Internet) have already explained the incident as a case of mistaken identity:

Jarun is the neighbourhood in Zagreb where the drone has crashed and it's pronounced the same as Yarun, a town in the Zhytomyr region in Ukraine. :D
