    HP Slimline 260-a129

This is the AMD variant which comes with an AMD A8-7410, 8GB DDR3, 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive, DVD burner, and a built in M.2 b/g/n wireless + Bluetooth. Picked it up for less that $300 CAN. The idea is to turn it into an HTPC machine to replace the current Zotac Nano AD10, but I don't know if I want to keep Windows 10 on it, or run LibreELEC off of it instead. Definitely swapping the hard drive for one of my spare SSDs though.

Can you install previous versions of Windows?

That'll make a hella of a nice HTPC.

It's a bit overboard for an HTPC machine, but I wanted the option to go all out. I get full Windows 10, I can emulate Android or use Android apps via Chrome, play old games via emulators, play some non-demanding PC games, run native video apps that don't have a Kodi plugin (Netflix now has one, but it's not official), have plenty of space for PVR.. you name it. Yes, I can do almost all of this on my Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2015) (thanks to Gamestream and so forth), but that's mine... this, is for the front room.

Mind you, the new Shield TV (2017) would have cost the same, but.. meh.

Good question. Should be able to, but I think I'd have to go hunting for drivers as HP's only listing is for Windows 10 64bit.

I wouldn't bet on it if it is a relatively new model. Hardware manufacturers abandon previous versions for Windows 10 like they are grown up dogs.

My best bet would be to try one of the big driver packs, like DriverPack Solutions, or try one of HP's Driver Packs they have for their EliteBook and ProBook laptop/workstations from HERE (would just need to find an Elite/ProBook that is AMD based to try).

It's getting hard to find new systems with older Windows support. I have no doubt they will go up in price.

If it weren't for the Blu-ray 3D support I'd scrap Windows on my HTPC. To bad Kodi doesn't do that yet, if ever.

On a side note, it comes with Windows 10 Home pre-Creators Update, meaning I'm in for a loooong setup process. Thankfully there's not much bloatware. Wild Tangent crap (as usual), McAfee LiveSafe (again, as usual), and useless HP service software... all gone now, so that saves me a lot of time. The thing runs smooth too, even with the mechanical drive, so I might keep it in there instead of swapping for an SSD, but we'll see.

True, I have a PS4 and could view movies through that. But, it's a bit of a hassle changing system back and forth. To be honest, I don't use my PS4 that much.

Well if you don't use your PS4 as it is, why don't you use it for the 3D movies?
Saves you money from buying a HTPC and no money to MS!

I agree, if your TV has multiple ports it helps though because you can just pick up the remote control and switch between devices. I routinely switch between my cable box and my PS4 which I've been using for movies of late.
