So I finally decided to ditch my Microsoft Lumia 650... Apps were always hard to come by, and then they just stopped working and being updated... not a deal breaker. Sports push notifications stopped working, that really sucked. Then Telegram notifications stopped working, ugh! The straw that broke the camels back... My TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) app stopped connecting to the info servers. So I rode the horse 'til I could ride no longer. It's a real shame that Windows Phone did not get good adoption... it was awesome. So the hunt for a new phone started. Buying one outright is the only way to go for me . So cost needed to be low. 3.5mm headphone jack was a must. SD card was a must. And performance needed to be high right now, so that years down the road I would not be feeling the need to buy another because it was too slow. GSMArena.com is a great site for comparing phone specs and helped immensely in my decision. So I decided to get the Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro. Fast chipset (Snapdragon 860), 8GB RAM, and 256 GB of internal storage... All for $391 (CDN tax and shipping included). It's a lot of phone for a very low price. The link below is a comparison to an S20... Not bad considering an S20 is still $CDN 900+tax on Amazon Compare Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro vs. Samsung Galaxy S20 - GSMArena.com QB
Just bought a Samsung Galaxy S20+ at a reasonably cheap price... It is Used but which i normally don't go that route... It were cheap due to a little cosmetic Damage (two light scratches that i can live with) Were bought from a store, As it comes with a 2 year warranty on it.
I'm still waiting for: - One wireless charging pad to rule them all - built in solar panel (they make solar glass, so it IS possible to do) - kinetic charging (although... since I don't get around much...) - automatic instant universal language translation (how many languages are programmed into phones these days? And I need a separate app to translate? WTF?)
I'm still waiting for easy user replaceable battery. As it used to be with so called "feature phones".
One of the nice things about my old Microsoft Lumia 650... Although the phone's usefulness fell far short of the usefulness of the replaceable battery QB
While technically the last piece of the build, it's more of a stop over as I can't afford the outrageous pricing of the 3070Ti or 3080Ti. Even this I wasn't really happy about, but eh.. I can always resell it. MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti VENTUS 3X 8G OC
I will tell you what is even worse than the current pricing for the 30 series. The way they look. They are butt ugly. And I like butts! Anyway, good thinking and happy gaming/work!
The key thing I was looking for was the 3 fan setup. That along with the larger heatsink shouldn't require the fans to run at full speed in order to cool... meaning quieter card.
Nothing new to show but I recently took my Samsung S20 FE 5G in for the screen crack to repair, they replaced the entire outer shell of the phone (at Mobile Klinik which is supposed to be the place that Telus suggests you go to, they did do a good job although I was surprised to see that everyone working there was a woman lol) and yeah it cost like almost 300 bucks, I was surprised because about 10 years ago I cracked a screen on a flagship phone, can't remember which one, and it cost about half what it cost this time around, so yeah everything seems to be getting more expensive nowadays.
New apps for iphone and iphone 12. For example, in call recorder Its super program which saved me a lot of times. Because sometimes I need record different calls in inconvenient places like cars.
Well, 10 years ago, that flagship phone was probably half the price of the current ones. Still a big ouch, though! A friend of mine cracked his S8 pretty early (actually, he put it in his front pocket in one piece and he took it out with a long crack). He was quoted something like what you paid and decided not to fix it, he kept it like that for years.
Galaxy s3 just keeps cranking it out... and i often still get told that the clarity of my phone and the pictures i take are great.. and they constantly say that i gotta be lying about the phone i have.
