Thank you, there were four ladies helping, I made sure they all thought they suited me (needless to say they were all attractive, even though one of them was a bit more on the plump side). :)

So my very ancient 20" ViewSonic monitor had been doing something odd for the past few weeks. I would turn on the monitor and after a few seconds (or even a couple of minutes)... it would go black and the power LED would turn off and it would make this very strange noise. Toggle it off and on and all would be fine. Although it was taking two or three attempts the past few days. It was also showing it's age in the brightness of the panel. Not totally dim, but also not what it should be. And when I say ancient, this is ancient:

I think I got it about a year later, it was refurbished or an open-box and I think I got it for $75 CDN. I think it held up admirably!

This weekend was the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs... I made a $24 wager on Bet365 on all 6 games, and I went 6 for 6. So after winning over $700 I figured it was time to pull the trigger and replace the ancient ViewSonic.

I don't game, and I don't use a monitor for watching movies. So my needs were limited. I also did not want to spend over $300. I landed the AOC for $260. Ideally I would have liked a 1440 at this size (27") to sharpen up the text, but 1080 @ 27" is not a total deal breaker for me, even at 30" away from the screen. And the price jump to 1440 was a bit much to swallow for a non-gamer.

I also got this... my G502 Hero is an awesome mouse (pairs nicely with my G815 Keyboard) and I love everything about it... EXCEPT the switches on the mouse buttons! I have been suffering from double clicks and lately the grab and hold has been failing too. Apparently this is a well known problem with this mouse. I could recover it somewhat by blasting it with canned air, but it would never last. So I thought maybe the newer SE version might have better switches and I also paid for the 3 year extended warranty from Canada Computers ($12) which would cover the above problem if it arises again. $72 with the 3yr warranty.

if you get the original older and more expensive g502... you won't have a problem.

    the cheaper g502s.. yes..

    i think i've counted 8 different G502s

I paid close to $100 for my first G502 Hero... Even this new SE was far from cheap being on sale for $60

my first G502 was i think 175ish... which i still use and aside from my fat middle finger occasionally hitting the right click, most noticable when i get tired, i managed to use it since it's launch without issue.

I have been using a G700s for about 10 years ( I think ). Worked flawlessly but I think there may now be an issue with the upper two of the four thumb buttons. They seem to occasionally stop working - which causes me to crash in Star Citizen.

I'm looking at a G502 wireless to complement my G915 keyboard. Though they are expensive and battery life is about 60 hours. That would probably be about 4-5 days for me. I would like to see something that could go near a month between charges like the keyboard. G604 mouse also looks like an option but I would like an updated version with an RGB illuminated icon and for it to still have the 240 hours battery life.

Interesting. I have an AOC monitor I bought 121 months ago, still works, relatively similar design to this one. (AOC I2353FH ) Enjoy your new monitor.

I already have it for Steam, and it is such a good game, so got it for my PS5 (just wish I had been early enough to get it for free last August, would have saved 20 bucks):

1974 Gibson SG Standard... Number Two. This one has no broken wood like my other one does... Not that broken wood is "bad" if repaired properly. But this one's never been broken. (seller's photo.)
