    hello!

i also have an eVGA 8800gts since 2days now.
why should i register within 30 days?

the nVidia Frog + Adrienne Demos run well,
    the points of 3dmark05 / 06 haven't increased much
compared to my older system which had an asus 6800gt gfxcard ..

is there something slowing anything down??

    another question:
i have an asus a8n sli premium board and 4 dimms on it.
2 1gb dualchannel kits .. is this a performance hit?
if yes, should i go for a 2gb kit instead?

    and another question:
why do asus manurfacture a cpu cooler+fan which actually does NOT
fit on their own motherboard in the correct direction? :) ..

the silent knight does fit onto the board, but the fan points in diretion
of my gfxcard instead of the rear of my tower, how it actually should be :(

merry christmas to all and a happy new year.
may the 8800 be with us :p

I love my 8800GTX! Just wish they could get FFXI fixed!? The game looks beautiful but you can't make out any of the menu icons it has a white fog over all of them! Hopefully when the driver flood eventually hits on these cards it will be fixed in one of the sets?

Ok ran all 3 3dmarks with my 8800GTS. All free 3dmark versions with default settings. I have a slight overclock on the core of 550 and a slight overclock on the mem of 830 (1660) until it's had a bit more time to settle in. Testing wasnt ideal and in the background I was monitoring temps etc with Riva Tuner, I also had AVG antivirus running and Abit uGuru so bear this in mind when using scores as a reference. Driver was latest available 97.44 which posts slightly lower scores than the last set.

Room temperature according to my watch is 32C, GPU idles at 60C. Fan mode is set at auto and at no point went above 77C with maximum 60%fan load, so loads of future cooling potential.
    Anyway here goes

    3dmark 03 - 25114
    3dmark 05 - 13809
    3dmark 06 - 8586

Thought i'd do a quick update of my 8800 GTS for you. My new Zalman AM2 cooler arrives tomorrow explaining the relatively low CPU overclock.

Well impressed with the temps as it is. Everythings dropped about 5C since I modded the armor to include a 120mm side window fan.
As it is the cpu is at 2.8ghz from 2.6ghz idling at 30C
The GPU core (8800gts) is at 600 and the memory is at 900 under load as shown the temp is 69C -77C. Im getting well over 9000 in 3dmark 06.
The final thing to note is my new toy, got myself a Belkin UPS today that'll give 15 minutes to save everything should I lose power.

Edit: after 5 hours I think we'll consider this a pass. Heres my set profiles

Would a jump with my system from the sapphire x1800xt 512mb to say the evga gts be a good one or waste of money?

It would be a hell of a jump considering in some cases the single card GTS is beating top of the range crossfire systems. Be even better if you can sell your old card to offset the price.

I am thinking of selling it for 200 euros or something, problem is here in Greece I don't know where to find buyers.

I am now an owner of a evga 8800gts. Not able to install it though because I can't find the keys for the case that is locked (thermaltake tsunami case). I will start a new thread elsewhere about that.

After a brief post here http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=127121 and some replies, things changed since then.....

I cant wait..My EVGA 8800 GTS will be on the way soon......

i just built my rig a few weeks ago.... Now stepping up again.

I hope my current specs are good enough to use the 8800 GTS to its fullest capacity.

Vista will be here soon also via action pack. Good news though, i hear Action pack subscribers can upgrade to vista ultimate for $139.99

After all that messing about he's getting the temperatures I'm getting standard on this BFG

As we speak im idling at 52C and under load I hit about 71-73C
At 600/900 iv'e never topped 76C. I'd let it have a good burn in and couple of weeks of running before I even though about taking it apart as out of the box I was getting 82-83C.
One other point to make is the fan under almost every circumstance runs at 60% load thats idling or gaming. I leave it on auto but if the temperatures worry you that much then you could easily put it to 80% while gaming and you'd be hard pressed to notice it.
Whatever you decide to do just be careful man don't want to see you throw away your hard-earned with a mistake.

what temps would YOU get if you did this mod..... 40 DEGREES PERHAPS?????? who knows. wait and see? ;)

it still would be nice to have arctic silver 5 under all that, rather than stock paste poop

I just build me a new system last month. And it came as a great suprise to me that is was up and running at my first go.No wrongly placed power connectors and stuff ^.^ . Well let aside that i forgot to put my old soundcard in and wondered about the bad sound.

But i gotta say the system rocks the 8800GTX is a really big jump from my old x800xtpe.
Although i get the occasional graphic glitch at Company of Heroes i never had less trouble with new hardware.
