depends on how long you want to wait and how good your card is for you right now. If you don't want to wait and want the leatest and greatest right now go 7800GTX. If not then wait a couple months because your system seems rather good. If you decide to make the switch please go AMD : ). If you are a benchmark whore then might as well wait for the Ultra or maybe even two. Nvidia has impressed me because they do not take forever now adays to release. ATI is getting pushed back further and further into the back of my mind with each day they wait to release anything at all.

    Wow the 7800...I only bought a 6800gt 1/2 a year ago. I guess I should have waited :(
I need a new Mobo too though.

Just curious about SLI: Does it make a huge difference in gaming? I mean isn;t it just overkill? Unless you are into rendering???

    Same here :)

I guess 300€ is a good border to get a high end card after 6-12 months after the release date,
still very effective in recent games when u buy it.

Not true, I have seen single card systems run games on those settings with more than sufficient FPS.

    I'm in the club ^_^

Pair of Leadtek Winfast 7800GTX TDH MyVIVOs in SLI. So, so, SO blisteringly fast :-D

Now if only my P5ND2-SLI Deluxe could run them for more than 5 minutes at a time without dying...

That depends for who... and what game! I know no GTX can do that in Doom 3 with 60fps + (always)

Dude, the thing is that 8XSAASA thingy is a real killer in frames. If Less than 30 is enough for you then be happy. But For me it ain't. Some games don't take much of a hit but I read in many reviews that Doom 3 and 1600 x 1200 with 8SAA and 16AF is not very very playable.....

I'm going to purchase one of these gtx's, just not sure about the diff between 256 and 512. Any thoughts? I mean, will one really outperform the other? And if so, is it worth it? And when I get one, I will update. Thanks! ;)

The difference? How about the 512 MB version is $700+ US and the 256MB range from $400-$600. Plus the 512MB is clocked to 530MHz / 1700 MHz I think. To summarize, the 512MB 7800 GTX - sweet card, but not worth $700 :)
