Geez!....You have quite an overclocker there!
Well I can now offically say I am now a member of the GTX club.
Welcome, I will soon be also, SLI not for me right now anyways : )
I'll go back and read this thread in more detail asap, but...
I got a 7800GTX a couple weeks ago!
Man, does this card scream or what?!
sell my 850pe and build a sli rig????or wait and build crossfire rig???
depends on how long you want to wait and how good your card is for you right now. If you don't want to wait and want the leatest and greatest right now go 7800GTX. If not then wait a couple months because your system seems rather good. If you decide to make the switch please go AMD : ). If you are a benchmark whore then might as well wait for the Ultra or maybe even two. Nvidia has impressed me because they do not take forever now adays to release. ATI is getting pushed back further and further into the back of my mind with each day they wait to release anything at all.
Wow the 7800...I only bought a 6800gt 1/2 a year ago. I guess I should have waited
I need a new Mobo too though.
Just curious about SLI: Does it make a huge difference in gaming? I mean isn;t it just overkill? Unless you are into rendering???
 Only if u REALLY want 1600x1200 8xssa 16xaf do you need 2x7800gtx
I guess 300€ is a good border to get a high end card after 6-12 months after the release date,
still very effective in recent games when u buy it.
Not true, I have seen single card systems run games on those settings with more than sufficient FPS.
I'm in the club ^_^
Pair of Leadtek Winfast 7800GTX TDH MyVIVOs in SLI. So, so, SO blisteringly fast :-D
Now if only my P5ND2-SLI Deluxe could run them for more than 5 minutes at a time without dying...
That depends for who... and what game! I know no GTX can do that in Doom 3 with 60fps + (always)
Well what you know appears to be wrong.
Forgot to add here, I have a 7800GTX and I freakin love it.
Well I got one myself, even though I just bought a x850xt pe. Factored in SM 3.0 and HDR, plus the price of $350 (Thanks dipstick ). Should be here tomorrow or fri Prolly sell my x850xt pe to make back some of the money
Dude, the thing is that 8XSAASA thingy is a real killer in frames. If Less than 30 is enough for you then be happy. But For me it ain't. Some games don't take much of a hit but I read in many reviews that Doom 3 and 1600 x 1200 with 8SAA and 16AF is not very very playable.....
Guess I should pipe up about my second BFG GTX OC
(I try to keep my sig updated)
I'm going to purchase one of these gtx's, just not sure about the diff between 256 and 512. Any thoughts? I mean, will one really outperform the other? And if so, is it worth it? And when I get one, I will update. Thanks!
if you got the money.... go for it imagine 1 gb of vid ram if you get sli
The difference? How about the 512 MB version is $700+ US and the 256MB range from $400-$600. Plus the 512MB is clocked to 530MHz / 1700 MHz I think. To summarize, the 512MB 7800 GTX - sweet card, but not worth $700
