Ordered an XFX 7900GTX yesterday. Seems to be a nice card and I can't wait to try it out. Should be interesting to se how it performs compared to my X1600XT :)

Performance wise it will blow it away.. image quality won't be as high unless you turn ALL the speed up optimizations off-- but even then the 7900 will be very fast, so not to worry.

Hmm sounds cool. I will hopefully get the card this friday, so that I can test it over the weekend.

I should have mine within a month or so- I only have until May 24th to do the trade up program, at EVGA.. but I need to buy an old PCI card first so I can at least use my PC.

"step-up program" I should have said.. Basically I can get a 7900GTX for 75 dollars.. trading in my 7800GTX.. (within 90 days of purchase form a retailer)

    edit- and I can't wait!

I just got my XFX 7900GT. I think it was a good upgrade from my ATI X1600XT. :)

Did you run any benchmark? Like 2005 and 2006? How about OC'ing it? Just wondering, if you do OC, how fast does it go?

    And congrats.. :)

I ran 3D Mark 03 and got around 22.000 points. And that's pretty good compared to around 9.000 points with the X1600XT

Hmm...I'm having some major problems with Battlefield 2 and my XFX 7900GTX + the latest nvidia drivers.
At about 10 minutes of playing I get flashing letters in text. And when exiting BF2, my screen gets blank, and returns with some graphical wierdness, gets black again and returns with more wierdness and so on...

Oblivion do not behave the same way att all. I'm gonna try out Brothers In Arms soon and see if I get the same problems.

EDIT: Have tried some more Battlefield 2 and I get bluescreens saying NV4_disp.dll or something like that.

I just got my 7900GT today :D I got an Asus TOP version... i would normally go for evga or xfx... but I got this one cheaper off ebay. It took the guy 10 days go get it to me though...

so anyway, it's actually got a nice stock coooler that covers the RAM too. it's not that loud either. I put it in for a few minutes just to make sure it worked before I went to work putting my water block on it.

I'm currently running it at 635/1700 on 1.4v

Hmm...it seems that my XFX 7900GTX can't even handle stock speeds without generating artifacts. I installed Coolbits and clicked on "test changes" @ 650/800 and I get megenta colored dots all over the place. And that's just in Windows!!!!!

Now that sounds bad. What type of power supply do you use?

Well when I do that "find max" in coolbits it goes up to 530/1500 or somewhere around there.. My card might run that fast, but it artifacts badly- I run it at around 476/1.22ghz- barely oc'd at all.. stock is 470 though- and that is a factory OC.

I would not trust the coolbits "find max" thing one bit. Also how hot does it run?

As I said; 650/1600 or 800 IS the stock settings of my 7900GTX card, and it still artifact. Can't finnish 3DMark 05 or 3Dmark 06 and I get some serious artifacts in Battlefield 2.

I'm using a Tagan Easycon 580W SLI certified, which should be more than enough for ONE 7900GTX.

Yeah, so I'll try again... how hot does it run?

    Also- testing what changes?

It shows 43 degress. In Coolbits I can't push the TEST button if i don't change on the sliders. So I take it down 1 Mhz. Still artifacts though. And they come instantly.
