If it won't run any games or benchies RMA it- but it does not make sense that before you move it 1Mhz down or up it is fine, and then after it is artifacting all over in windows.

Still, I meant the temp after benchmark or game.. like right after-

reflash the bios. there have been problems w/ 7900GT's arctifacting at mild oc's and stock speeds... from what I hear an RMA doesn't do much. reflash the bios and you'll be good to go (HopefullY)

Oh yeah- voiding the warranty is the best thing to do on a messed up video card.. NOT!!

RMA it till you get one that works!

I didn't know the warranty gets voidet by flasing bios...Or does it? It doesn't make sense to me that they would allow us to download bios if it would void warranty...Interesting...

PS-been waiting for my Gigabyte GF7900 GT for 14 days already...:(

I've reflashed the BIOS from different vendors, and no difference there either.

XFX has had a lot of problems with their overclocked 7900GTXs, seems a lot of them can't handle factory stocks. RMA it.

Yeah I've heard that. And my card isn't even factory overclocked, and it still sucks.

Guys I'm seeking opinions on these two cards.

XFX 7900 GT Xtreme 520mhz
BFG 7900 GT OC

I've read that the BFG has a quieter cooler but otherwise they probably stack up about the same. I've been an ATI user forever so really don't know which brand is better...which would you pick?

I have a standard xfx 7900 gt cam clocked at 470 but i bumped it up to 520 wiht no heat or other issues. As for noise it is relatively quite.

I'm also considering

XFX GeForce 7900 GT Extreme 550MHZ 256MB 1.63GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I TV-OUT SLI Ready Video Card

But that one is in short supply at the place I'm buying from.

I personally avoided XFX
I do not trust their products (the factory OC ones especially) as i heard a lot of complains with them

and luckily i found and bought a EVGA 7900 GTX model and works GREAT

For NV, I'd only go for Leadtek and ASUS :p Or BFG or EVGA but they don't sell in my part of europe :p

Not that great of a deal is it?

CA nd US $ not that far apart any more... not sure the exact ratio.. didn't look. That's just a "regular" GT? The one compared is a KO..

In my part of Europe there are 1 or 2 stores selling a small stock of them
It was difficult to find but i guess i was lucky

I trust Evga products more from what XFX offers

Nah its still a good deal. Even with the 90cent Canadian dollar the average price of a 7900GT from any maker is $389CDN. Also that XFX is an overclocked version not the standard 475mhz. I'd prefer EVGA just cause they have a good rep but 50 bucks is 50 bucks :p

EDIT: I did find this thread thats quite alarming corncering the EVGA cards

Haha now I'm scared to buy any of the 7900GT's! BFG seems to be the only one without any complaints lately.

Yeah- hopefully that wont happen.. Lifetime warranty though.. so it doesn't matter really. I'd go with the GTX instead of a heavily OC's GT.. Seems like less problems with the regular GTX.

I know of many complaints about BFG cards including the one I purchased. When it arrived, one of the capacitors were floating around in the box. Good thing I can solder. However now everything is fine and have no problems with it.
