Honestly i love my XFX 7900 GT... i have the stock one and not OC at all. I love the fact it is sooooo cool and does not heat up my case at all. I have OC for benching for fun but honestly when i can run almost any game i play at full res of 1280x1024 on my LCD with 4 X AA and 16 AF then there is no real reason to OC it honestly. As for the quality of the card... i have had it for 45 days or so now with 0 issues... not 1.

If you have a 7800 GTX 512 don't upgrade to a 7900GTX.. your card is almost as fast.. I would wait until the next fastest one comes out..

    7900 Shelf Life

Thanks for the reply about the Asus 7800gtx,that card had such a short run and I couldn't spring for two at the time!
Over 1,000 bucks Canadian in Dec/05!
Was at the comp shop today and inquired but there are no more 7800gtx 512 to be had.
So I will have to locate a used card or sell mine off to do SLI...
    Picked up a ViewSonic VX922 LCD 2ms monitor tho...300bucks!
Any interest in a good vid card anyone?
I use the NGO optimized drivers, easy overclocks on there!(bluescreens rarely, just disable in safe mode and reinstall drivers-non certified nVidia stuff I reckon...)
Looks like it's Quad SLI on an HD monitor if I wait.

I am building a new system, I desided to get the 7900 GT. I used to have a X800XT. This brings me to my question. Is there a tool for nVidia cards that is anything like ATI Tray Tools? I would like one that has an Overclocking Auto Detect (so I don't overclock it too much and fry the card). That was one of my favorite features about ATT. Anyways, if you could let me know that would be great.

ATI Tray Tools is the one thing I miss from my ATI experience. There is a tool called nHancer that makes profiles easier to manage, but there's no way to overclock individually between games. On the other hand the nV control panel (old version) has built-in overclocking level toggling between 2D and 3D modes wich works quite nicely. It also has an overclocking test function that suggests levels of overclocking. The last two appears after having done the Coolbits registry tweak, wich is not too complicated. After a while I've become comfortable with the changes, even if using ATI Tray Tools was the best.

Just installed my EVGA 7900GT CO which is supposed to be one of the new shipments that fixed all the issues.

Ran Oblivion, BF2 and Rise of Legends all settings maxed 4XAA and they were smooth as hell.

I'll try 3dmark2005,2006 and hopefully it doesnt die :D

Haha I just got mine UPS a few minutes ago.. Wow- sweet looking card.. and it is freaking HUGE. It is surprisingly light for it's size though.. copper based heat pipe cooler with a lot of light aluminum and a big huge fan. Very nice for default cooler. Off to install it.

That is one hell of a Heat Sync / Fan setup on the GTX. The only reason why I didn't go for the GTX is because I'd like to save up and get a Direct X 10 card around the time Vista is released. (I really want to play crysis!!)

Yeah.. probably not a bad choice. I will be "stuck" with this for a while because it was so expensive (for me).. but then again, after some benching and messing around with it, I am very impressed with the speed, image quality (because I can crank settings) and overall smoothness of games..

But I won't be jumping on the DX10 bandwagon when it comes out if it will only be for Vista as I have heard.. I am waiting quite a while for VISTA I believe.

I have no idea. You try. ;)

Excellent cooler on these GTX cards for sure. Another detail that drew me over to it. I'd be reluctant to change out the cooler for a third party on a card in this price range.
