Sorry, I meant your 6850, Bluemak.

If it is the same as yours, then you've been using the same card that Fantasma, Mr. cairo and I have been using for the blogging challenge.

I've been impressed, but wouldn't quite give it a flawless review.

Here is mine, not the same I guess.
For the money, I am totally satisfied with it.

I recently purchased two Sapphire HD 6870 Toxic OC cards and I'm impressed especially in CrossFire mode they run very well. Apart from the noisy fans they are a diamond.

I totally forgot about this thread.
    I bought a GV-R685OC-1GD to replace my 5770(died) and I'm quite
happy with it's folding performance over the last 2+ months. Just a slight increase in power consumption.Temps fluctuate between 61-64c not bad considering I'm in peak summer months.

Great temps. :) Are you using the beta client and new core for folding? It has double the efficiency of the standard client, though it doesn't get along with hardware video acceleration (and that includes YouTube and the likes), so if you're not too curious you might want to wait for Catalyst 10.8 which will fix the bug.

Thanks I thought so too :) Fan speed is at 68% right now but it's not unbearably loud.

Yes I'm using the beta 7.1.24 client. averaging 4.02 TPF, 4 WU's per day for 7.34K.
Not quite in Nvidia's range but not bad.
My 5770's TPF was around 4.26..

Funny how little impact the higher clock speed and the 256 bit memory bandwidth has on folding..I'd have thought it would have meant more than 24 seconds..but this client hasn't been fully optimized either.

I haven't really noticed much impact with the hardware acceleration except for youtube now stutters using the 64 bit beta flash 11.0.1.60 but I've been too lazy to uninstall it and go back to the 10x.

Good to hear, I've got "regular", 32 bit flash and so far I had to disable hardware acceleration for flash video or else, if I opened one while folding, the system would freeze solid. Contrary to what I previously said, though, AMD has included the fix into the just released 11.7 Catalyst (so I've been told by an AMD guy at Foldingforum) and I can also confirm that the 11.8 Preview has a working fix.

    Got an XFX 6990 today...going from 5970.

I decided to stick with a dual GPU rather than CFX 6970's or SLI 500 series because my motherboard sucks and the 2nd card would run at 1x. The board has treated me well with rock solid overclocking so I felt it would be wrong to get rid of it just because it can't do Crossfire. Maybe I'm crazy but when a motherboard treats me well, no crashes up lockups, I like to reward it with continued use :hmm:

    Nah I think you're sane :p

Let us know how you get on with the aftermarket cooler - the stock cooling solution seems to be almost everybody's main gripe with the reference 6990.

So far so good, I ran it through Crysis 2 and Witcher 2 as well as a few tests it wasn't louder than my case fans. The GPU's were at 75C and fan speed just under 40%. Although I haven't tried the Bios OC switch that's when things should get loud.

I'm giving some very serious thought to going to a single card/dual GPU solution myself. When CFx works, it works really well. But, when it doesn't work it's a PITA.

Interesting you should say that, before deciding on this card I talked to a guy I found online who had owned SLI 580's, CFX 6970's, and settled on a 6990. When I asked him why he stuck with what was arguable the louder and usually lesser performing card he said he had the fewest issues and best experience with the 6990. I was very surprised to hear that knowing the reputation these dual gpu's get but so far I have to agree. The scaling is fantastic and blows away my 5970 which was no slouch. I haven't noticed any issues aside from my ever increasing credit card balance :D

Im using a Sapphire Radeon HD 5700 serie, because my original one Sapphire Radeon HD 6770 had to be returned of an issue. But i love the 6770 with 1 GB GDDR-5. The videocard had a issue with games, when it had to prestate it stucks and it didnt react. I hope i get soon a new 6770. But what is the difference between an 6800 serie and a 6700?
