i had the 25.5" asus monitor, which is comparable to that samsung. was great for gaming, ok for movies, but i thought it was useless for desktop work. too damn much color shifting, no matter where i positioned it, or positioned my self.

I recently got the XFX HD 5770 1 GB GDDR5 card and I'm loving it! If I had a motherboard that had another PCIe slot, I'd be using Crossfire for sure!

However, I AM having that insidious gray screen/vertical lines problem occasionally. With the announcement that a fix is imminent, I do hope it does, indeed, fix the problem.

RE: An earlier question about Audio via DVI -> HDMI: Now, mind you, I"m clinically deaf. However, with hearing aids, I DO hear sounds and can tell if my speakers are working or not. The cruel thing is, the hearing aids do well for sounds but not for voice/speaking for me. So, with the little bit of warning, here's what I've had with a previous HD 4770 and the current HD 5770:

    1. HD 4770: DVI -> HDMI to my 22 inch LCD that has built-in speakers:

I could turn my external 5/1 speaker system volume all the way down and I would still get audio through my LCD speakers. In order to disable that, I had to Disable the ATI HD Audio device in Device Manager. That took care of it.

    2. HD 5770: HDMI -> HDMI to my 22 inch LCD...

Same as above. If I want to stop the audio through my LCD speakers, I have to disable the ATI HD Audio Device in Device Manager.

So, I can attest to the fact that audio IS available via DVI -> HDMI if the ATI HD Audio Device is installed and Enabled....at least on my setup.

I've had my HIS HD 5870 now for a couple of weeks and I have to say I'm totally impressed with this card.

Wouldn't you know that the day after I bought the video card my monitor died. It was a Gateway FHD2400 24" LCD and I absolutely loved it. Sad story which I won't go into. After some hard searching I came across this monitor. At first I was undecided if I really liked this monitor, but now I think I made a pretty good choice.

Wow, 27" 1920x1080! Are you using it right now? Pros and cons?

Well, there is not really much to tell. Setup was easy. I'm using the HDMI connection, BTW. I did not try using the ATI audio drivers for the sound that comes with the monitor. I've read some reviews about this HP monitor and most of them say the built in speakers aren't worth the effort. I just reverted to my speakers I normally use. It took me awhile playing with the monitor functions to get it where I wanted. Can't say that I've watched alot of movies on my monitor yet but the few I've watched looked really good. That includes blue-rays also. I'm a big sub-simmer so the main game I play is Silent HUnter IV. I've also got Crysis installed on my computer and between the new video card and the monitor Crysis looks great.

Finally if I was asked if I would recommend this monitor to anybody else I would say yes. It really is nice.

Just picked up a Diamond HD5850, 1GB model from Fry's for my birthday.

Runs much cooler then my old 4870, but I want to run some benchmarks too.

So I got the expansion pack for Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening and my Samsung 40 HDTV never looked so good :D

Just officially posting that I got a 5870 from XFX just today. Took me forever to get my water-cooled 4870x2 outta there. 4870x2 performance without the crossfire hassles. And DX11. And lower power usage. Imma gonna love this card.

    Anyone want a waterblock'd 4870x2, I still have the original fan, too...:bleh:

Definately... after the initial problems with installation, everything is finally working perfectly ;) Currently idling at 33*C and can rip through BFBC2 max everything, never pushing past 65*C :evil:
