First of all, I am very very very worried about terrorist attacks. From what I read the security is a complete joke and certain islamofascists have already said they will attack. Granted, SA is full of crime for years now and if nothing else any terrorists are more in danger of getting mugged, raped, killed (in any order) than managing to attack.

    Leaving that aside,

I am looking forward to it. It's about time Africa hosted this.
I plan on watching most of the games. I will of course support Greece, although I seriously doubt this team can do much if anything.
Other teams I support are USA, Italy, Argentina, England. I used to support Germany but not any more after many years.
As long as Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Germany, don't win, I will be satisfied.

That is not true it's more than Safe and the security is tighter than ever, its just the media blowing things out of proportion as usual :bleh:

I think a lot of the HH members are going to attend, what with a whole lot of them being from Botswana. ;) I would support Romania, but they didn't make it as they've been on a steady decline since 94. I'm most likely not going to be watching the games either as I don't have cable. Is there a way to stream the games online this year?

Wow, just 18 more days? It completely slipped my mind! Yeah, I'm a little excited. I'll naturally be supporting Serbia and I hope that we can make it beyond the group stage. Out of other teams, Slovenia, Brazil and whoever manages to "steal my hearth" with beautiful football and I expect it to be an African team (I still remember the 2002 team of Senegal which was a joy to watch :)).

As for the cup being held in Africa, I'm sorry to say this, but I just hope that nothing like what happened to the unfortunate players of Togo during this years Nations' Cup will happen during the world championship (yes, I realize that it's a different country and a different level of organization, but that incident really reinforces every negative stereotype about African countries). If all goes well, it will be a great thing for everyone. :)

The whole atmosphere is getting electric over here ... its such a big deal.... as most of you know Africans as a whole love football with a passion, and football gets our blood going like no other sport on earth, so you cant help but get excited when the world cup is so close.

Edit: @ IvanV South Africa is much more secure and am sure nothing like the Togo incident will disrupt this event, plus they have hosted a lot of international sporting event which have gone off without a hitch like the Rugby world cup and the cricket world cup so am pretty reassured that this will be the same.

It is VERY annoying. I would love for it to be banned. I watched a few games few months ago and they had them. Very annoying.

I need to make a plan with a few mates. Get some crates of beer in, Find a venue with the biggest TV and tune in for the game :D Won't be visiting though, I'm not quite that much of a hardcore fan :)
