Okay, so it's been 4 years and it's time to update or rather refresh my rig, all the parts I yank will go to Judas for a second life in his customers computers.

So out of the PC parts in my current PC I'll be reusing the case, the hard drives, the SSDs, the PSU and the RAM as well as utilizing the same screen for now. Around June when screen prices are better according to @Judas I should be able to pick something up for a better price to replace my current monitor, was thinking no bigger than 43", and with 4K, also HDR 10 would be a nice to have.

These are the new parts I've already bought for now (found this for a steal @ 825 USD brand new):

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card:

These are the parts I plan to buy:

    - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - Ryzen 9 5000 Series Vermeer (Zen 3) 12-Core 3.7 GHz Socket AM4 105W Desktop Processor: 566.99 CAD
    - SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 2280 2TB PCIe Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.3c Samsung V-NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V8P2T0B/AM: 349.99 CAD
    - ASRock X570 PG VELOCITA AM4 AMD X570 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard: 408.33 CAD
    - DEEPCOOL AS500 CPU Air Cooler, Universal RAM Height Compatibility, 140mm PWM Fan, A-RGB Top Cover, 5 Heat Pipe Design for Intel Core/AMD Ryzen CPUs: 129.99 CAD
-Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound AS5-3.5G: 19.99 CAD

So, what do you think of this build? Good? Bad? Any comments or suggestions?

Edit: I added a CPU cooler to the mix, and changed out the Ryzen 7 5800X for a Ryzen 9 5900X. Also added some really cool thermal paste (literally).

It is indeed has! And thank you!

One thing, @Judas did say the Ryzen 7 5800X 3D is coming out around the end of this month and he suggested I wait for that as it will be 20% faster. I don't know if a) I want to wait and b) I want to pay a little bit more for that. I suppose for future proofing that would make sense.

I hear you, personal choice, many times I just could not wait, regardless of the price. ;)

Yeah, I might just cave and buy a screen now lol. :D

I was thinking of this screen although @Judas wasn't too sure about it (at Amazon.ca) for 1699.99 CAD:

    ASUS ROG Strix 43” 4K HDR DSC Gaming Monitor (XG43UQ) - UHD (3840 x 2160), 144Hz, 1ms, HDMI 2.1, Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync, FreeSync™ Premium Pro, DisplayHDR1000, DCI-P3 90%, DisplayPort, USB:

I wouldn't pay that much money for a motherboard. It's ridiculous.
I wouldn't buy anything EVGA ever again, though I admit in the current state that is a good price for that GPU.
I'm still using either my PC from 2014~, or my Mac Mini form 2012.
I admit if I was going to get a new system (strictly a financial matter), I would at least consider getting an AMD CPU.
Also, I wouldn't buy again another 40+ inch monitor. At least, I assume so.
Having said that, that ASUS monitor looks sweet in terms of looks, but the power consumption is rated as G as far as I can tell, which is bad.

    Enjoy your new system.

@Trusteft I am also considering a 32" screen as well, 43" might be just a tad too big.

I just picked this up now, so only two parts left, the motherboard and the processor. Then I'll be in business.

    @arb65912 Huh?

Also btw, the reason I'm waiting is I'm still not certain on the mobo.

As for the processor, I want to wait till the end of this month to see if the Ryzen 7 5800X 3D will come out.

They have a version that comes with a heatsink, which is intended to be PS5 compatible. It's about $50 more.

I'm looking to pull the mechanical drive out of the system... go all solid state. Still have 1 more M.2 slot left, but I haven't decided on what to get. Either I get one more Samsung 980 Pro, which taps out at 2TB, or one of the 4TB Sabrent drives.
