You were absolutely right, @Judas :) As always, anyway!

I am not really trying to squeeze as much money as possible out of it, just cannot simply throw it away, lol.

I will keep lowering the price till it sells, I will let you know.

Hello again in the longest thread ever lol, lol, lol
    @Judas @Calliers
Since I am no longer bounded to have company software on my PC I wanted to install Windows 11
    See screenshots.
I was told to enable TPM which I did.
I ran PC Health Check and it says I can run Windows 11
I clicked on link for free upgrade and it brought me back to Windows Update screen where it says my PC is not compatible...
    WTF??? lol,lol

Well, once again we will have to wait for @Judas, I'm still getting to grips with W11.

Don't worry @arb65912 - we'll get to the bottom of this stat.

See, I could buy the freaking Windows11, not a big deal BUT, why I get these contradictive messages?
    That is what bothers me.

How are you liking W11 so far? It is pretty much the same but a bit different location.

Hmmmm, it seems to be the most stable Windows upgrade I've ever had. Everything just works....

And the upgrade is free btw, just like Windows 10 was. As long as you have a Windows 10 key, you can tie that to your Windows 10 account then upgrade to Windows 11 for free.

Download and manually do an upgrade install of windows 11 and see what it states ~> https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows11

windows 11 only requires the following to be set in bios:

    Secure boot enabled
TPM 2.0 enabled (for amd users, it's fTPM)

The other requirement is that the OS drive MUST be GPT, it cannot be MBR. (right click start button, click disk management, along the left side of where drives are listed, right click on the disk # and click properties, then go over to the volume tabs and view the Partition Style and see if it says MBR or GPT there.

If you're running MBR, then you can't be running in pure UEFI mode which is required to enable secure boot which means those settings have to be changed as well which means Legacy mode is enabled and will have to be disabled.

You'd have to first convert your MBR to GPT which can be a bit of a pain, and then disabled legacy/CSM, then turn on secure boot and tpm 2.0

It may be easier to backup the data and then perform a clean install rather than bother with the mbr to gpt conversion.

Also if you already have windows 10 activated on your pc, you do not have to pay for windows 11, you can install windows 11 and it'll just pull the activation information from the prior windows 10 installation info via the internet since it's basically the same OS.

OK, thanks a lot!!!!! As always. :)

I will check for the GPT versus MBR and if it is GPT I will just use the download link and try to install.

I will report here how it went.

You should probably disconnect all HDD's & SSD's other than the target drive... Windows 11 may be smarter, but better to be safe than sorry. I don't know how many times I have seen Windows do crazy $hit to a drive other than the target install drive.

I guess it is too late. It is finishing up so if damage had to be done, it is probably don.
Never thought of it by the way.
But I have Arq backup so I hope I will be OK.
I will let you know how it went.
    Thanks for the tip.

it's usually only the initial install you have to worry about windows creating some kind of boot partition crap on another drive. So doing clean installs always best to disconnect other drives until AFTER windows is installed. Once that's done, and upgrades aren't a problem.

Thank you, noted for next time but I did not have to do a clean install, just upgraded from your link. :)

Sooooooooo, we are running Windows11 now and all is good so far.

Checking my Arq backup, simulator, and other programs, so far all is great.

Actually it fixed my File Explorer problem when Explorer was opening itself when I was opening Flight Simulator, very weird thing, read and read how to fix it without success, now Windows11 is OK

It certainly seems like M$ has once again done what it does only rarely on occasion... release an operating system that actually works.
