Example from my log- this is so cool:

    log 1
** Somebody is scanning your computer.
    Your computer's UDP ports:
    33434, 33435, 33436, 33453 and 33454 have been scanned from 216.133.226.7.

    log 2
    ** Traffic from IP address 216.133.226.7 is blocked from 05/26/2004 05:37:15 to 05/26/2004 17:37:15

I can set how long to block intruders- 5 seconds, 5 minutes, or 5 days. It's awesome. I do nothing, it just works in background. It's like a little guy in my PC fighting my battles with the internet. Most firewalls aren't as easy as that, and that easy to set up.. Also advanced rules are extremely configurable. ZAP, McAfee, Outpost, etc.. were all a pain to set up and configure, and they still weren't as good as this when they were all set up perfectly.. (as good as I could do)
    I'm happy with it.:)

It's worth buying it. IDS is so great. But I'm sure it does very well without it.

I think Agnitum outpost is one of the best todate on the market.
It is light to all machines resources and very effective too

I tried it and hated it, what a pain to configure.. Maybe there's a website somewhere that can help- but I didn't even bother...

hmmm your problem should be to get a very good firewall and good things are always costly, but it is a simple way to configure it- at least the new version has been over simplified

I like kerio or zone alarm (not v5) the best. Both seem to work very good.

ive had a problem with zone alarm. Always at a random moment my True Vector would crash, and disable any internet activity with it. Reboot was neccesary to get it back. Im never touching it again...

I find it strange people keep opening accounts - then opening up very old threads, and then posting spam links... 3rd today. The other's were deleted, I'll let a mod decide if that is a spammer or not. Look at the dates.

Historically, I have really liked Zone Alarm - bit it acts a bit wonky in SP2 at first, or at least did. I wonder what other ones I should try that have both incoming and outgoing protection?

I have a hardware NAT firewall (Block WAN Requests) in my Linksys BEFSR41.

I'm using an old firmware though - from like 2002. Figured if it works, why mess with it?

Comodo firewall is one of the best free firewalls, but my favourite is Jetico PF :)
