Kong: Skull Island was on TV last night. I decided to watch it and did not regret it. Far better than I thought it would be. First time I see a Kong/Godzilla movie which is actually creepy. Nice. Apparently there are 4 movies related to each other.
If they other 2 are at least as good as Skull Island, they are sponge worthy. By that I mean to buy on bluray.
Godzilla is ok but 50 mins before you see the man and TBH a lot of it is Dark but yeah its good Godzilla 2 ... is the most disappointing of the 3 that have been released but there is still a lot to like
4 movies over the last few days, all of them on TV. 1. Entrapment, aged surprising well. CZJs ass still magnificent. 2. No it wasn't. 3. Night at the museum three. About as good as the other two nights. 4. Mortal Engines. OK, trying for Good, but failing at basically being a 6 hours movie condensed into 2. The villains were awesome though. If I find it on cheap bluray, I will get it. 5.
I watched Outside the Wire on Netflix, sweet flick and very cool concept, although towards the end it lost a bit of it's splendor. Still enjoyed it though, 7/10.
Two movies on TV, yesterday and tonight. Maze Runner's sequel (second of three movies) was last night. Good movie. Well made, some fantastic special effects/cgi. Not a great movie, but a fun one. The third is on next week. Tonight it was Atomic Blonde. I expected an average at best movie. I am glad I was very wrong. One of the best action movies of the last ten years. Great film making. Perfect no, but close enough. A must own movie on bluray. It was a great ride, starting ok and improving every minute till the last half which was absolutely great. Also, great soundtrack, great editing, great set pieces, great action sequences. etc Why wasn't this more successful I don't know.
Watched RUN, HIDE, FIGHT ..film about a shooting at a high school its basically a female Rambo type where the unassuming girl whoops ass, TBH not a bad film Al;so watched News of the World , A western where Tom Hanks finds a lone survivor after a massacre and resolves to get her back to her only surviving relatives .. slow paced but really well done and very very enjoyable with a very "i saw that coming" ending (that in no way spoiled the film)
If you like action movies, you should check out American Ultra, 9/10. Only didn't give it a 10/10 coz I saw it twice, second time with a friend and I did see a few deficiencies, which I can't remember off hand, the second time around which did make some things less believable. It's along the lines of Upgrade, if you've seen that, also a 9/10. Those two movies I just recommended, if you're an action junkie, will satisfy and then some.
Thanks. I might watch Upgrade if I have the chance. As for American Ultra. Two of the least likeable main actors in one movie? Plus all I can think of when I see her name or even face, is cheating on her husband and blowing a director. I already have one movie of hers in bluray which I tolerate because of the rest of the cast. Two would be too much. Although never say never.
And I finally watched the last movie in the Maze Runner trilogy. I liked the movies, but the story. Spoilers ahead. . . . . . So basically if the brats had stayed put, thousands of people would have been saved, a cured found and humanity saved. But because they wanted to rebel, everyone but a few dozens were doomed and in a generation or two, humanity will disappear. The bad guys were actually the good ones.
Bad Boys: Enjoyable action romp!! Martin Lawrence and Will Smith worked well together. Tia Leoni looked hot and the Captain was suitably angry all the time. 7.5 out of 10 for me.
Yesterday I watched Jumanji 2. There are a lot of elements with nature, sometimes it seemed that you were taking an active part in the picture and were fighting monkeys on a suspension bridge. The plot is, of course, predictable, but some moments definitely surprised. This time the heroes, transported to Jumanji, switched roles, which was initially unusual. At the very beginning of the film, the plot seemed boring or heavy, drove you into depression, but probably, without this prehistory, the middle of the plot would not have been so funny. I liked the film very much. Both the first and second parts are super!
Arrival (2016). Very weird movie, very very well done movie. I might have found my new next generation favorite director. Slightly strange I had a feeling of having watched the movie before even though that was not the case. 9/10
Last Saturday the first Indiana Jones movie was on and yesterday the second. For me the first one was the weakest one, with Temple of Doom a huge improvement, but still very far away from the third movie in the series (which will be on TV on the same channel, next Saturday). My main issue with Temple of Doom watching it last night was Family Guy. Whenever Kate Capshaw was on screen (and I do like her), all I could think of was this, and ruin the scene for me. God I love Family Guy. But seriously damn Kate Capshaw looked amazing!
For the first time I watched the movie Predestination. With Ethan Hawk. I enjoyed it very much. 10/10
