Possibly it could be too much. It would only look like too much cuz the screen surface simply isn't big enough.
we're now up to five 17" prefer people but none of them have posted WHY they prefer the 17".... anyone that voted 17" care to post as to why?
Originally posted by shai you should run 1200x1600 on 21 inch on 19 1200x1600 is just to much What's "1200x1600"? Never heard of it Unless you have really bad eyesight (or a really sh!tty monitor), 19" is perfectly fine for 1600x1200 - as long as you have at least 85Hz (better more) and preferably a fine dot pitch of 0.25 or better. Of course, if you go and buy the cheapest 19" crap possible which has only pitiful 60Hz at 1600x1200 and a poor 0.28 dot pitch, it's clear that you'll have no fun with it.
I have a 24 Inch monitor and its almost impossible to go back to 19/21 inch ones, my eyes are just so used to it.
you could buy one of those lcd projectors for about $4000 that'll make a respectable +100" on a white wall  , but it'll be at 800x600 or 1024x768 in the dark . OR we could just wait for the walls to become like the ones in Fahrenheit 451. :w00t: (the whole wall is like a TV) ~eyeguy616 :dead: --trying to make the most of :w00t:
21 Mine is 21" Trinitron, and nope, it's not "too big." I sit . . . hmm, I don't have a measuring stick, but my arms barely touch the monitor from where I sit. 1280 res is perfect for me, runs it at 120Hz, and everything looks great 24 would be interesting :hmm: but not gonna happen :dead:
True shuki, like i said considering moving up. Just that i wanna get my rig like more uniform since i built it myself. But playing at a higher resolution should compensate too my way of thinking.:duh: If you start wasting me to often on mohaa then i may revert back to the 19"
Personally, I prefer 17". I had a 15" and that was definitely to small. A 19", in my opinion is just to big. 17" monitors fall right in the middle, and give you what you need for gaming. 19"+ would go more to graphics designers, AutoCad users etc. Just to note, my monitor does natively support 1600x1200. If that is the reason you wish to obtain a 19", look into some high quality 17" monitors for that support.
Have you actually played a game on 19" monitors? For FPS or other first person games, there's nothing like the 'really there' feel you get. I play most of my games at 1280x1024x32 and it's simply awesome!
i had a 15" before and gaming was awful. i moved to 19" 1 year ago and i am very happy with 19". i think getting a bigger screen is a bad option cause i have tried to play on a 21" and i couldn't play with the ease i play on my 19"
I am currently using a pathetic 15'' monitor for gaming. I've been to friends house and tried using 17'' monitor to play, and it just simply rocks. For me, a 17'' one will do. ^^
for price/size, a 19 would hit the sweet spot for me. Of course, I'd like it huge if i could. That would be sweet to play a game projected on a movie screen.
I uh...prefer 19", though I've never used anything larger. If I could find a used 21" for $300 or something at auction I might go for it.
I game with my 19" viewsonic and see no reason to go bigger. now if i could get me one of them LCDs... *drool*
Have 19" and I voted for 19'. I think is the perfect size. I have the Graphic Series G90f Viewsonic, and it works great for me, high refresh rate at hig res, so my eyes dont hurt anymore :duh: I use to have 17' KDS before with a shi|tty refresh rate and my eyes use to get red and hurt. :dead:
