I could have included the VIC-20, Commodore 128 (3 times I purchased one due to lightning strikes killing it via the modem) and even a Vectrex. (Vectrex...which we still have and it worked the last time we checked....) But was really trying to limit the first video game experience on a 386....even 486...Personal Computer. At any rate, it's still a nice walk down memory lane...even though there are some chasing rabbits off on tangents. ;-) And, we've definitely come a long ways since PONG!
one of my all time favourite games you really should have, while it was all shiny and new and awesome such an amazing game
A friend installed the trial version of Quake I on my PC (also my first PC) and it blew me away. I saved my allowance and bought the full version.
Toxic Bunny rang a bell, but had to Google. When a Rabbit gets in a bad mood, they tend to be very funny.
The first DOS/Win 3.1 based game I played was the turn based game of Might and Magic. Duke Nukem 3D Atomic version, was one of my all time favorite games that I still have, was the first game that I multiplayed with and had seen how a 10 meg network worked. It's what got me into networking for a career, it was that awesome. Vikinggod mentioned Stonekeep and I remember playing that game along with Bards Tale, Ultima series, Shadow Warrior, and a whole list of other DOS games that I still love. DaggerFall and Anvil of Dawn were two others that I remember playing a lot of. In computers in general, I remember playing Munch man and Hunt the Wumpus on the TI although I don't know what exactly it was other then a Texas Instrument (I remember it had a cassette tape player that read programs to it plugged into the back of it) and I remember playing Zork (which was completely text based) and Oregon Trail on the Apple II and it's green screen. These two, along with the original 512k Mac my parents bought were really my first experiences with a computer. I remember how much the original Mac was because of how much the damn thing cost. it was 2400$ back in 1985, it's a lot to pay for a pc now, back then it was a fortune. That's what got me started.
Speaking of text based games I'm surprised no one has mentioned Hugo yet, I really enjoyed playing the games in the Hugo series.
That I will admit is not one I remember. Do you remember Airwolf, a cheesy TV show with a game made as well. Had it on the Amiga and was lots of fun!
The first PC game I ever played would have to be MathQuest at school in the 1990s. The first PC game I ever owned and played would have to be Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. I was obsessed with that game, and still am to some degree.
Since Minesweeper and Windows Pinball are eliminated, mine would be Unreal Tournament 2004... followed by FarCry and Half-Life 2, shortly after. Man, those were the days.
Did you start playing games in dipers? lol Never had a NES or PS, but I think I have seen this game. Getting old so my memory cells are somewhat tired
Lol, yeah a lot of people might be surprised I played games which are really old like Centipede for example, what I did is go back and play older games while I was still a kid, as a result I have played a lot of DOS games and classic arcade games as well.
