crikey, it was ages ago now.

it must be in the news archive somewhere.

it said that opera took up more memory then needed and was obviously using spyware tactics. since i don't use the free ad-paid version i never took so much notice.

it's in the news archive someone, at least 1-2 months ago. i will see if i can find it.

    IE 6

Because Microsoft made me use it  I've tried Mozilla when I was experimenting with Linux Red Hat, it was ok, but I like my IE 6.

I use IE6 with images turned off.
I will be switching to broadband in the next two weeks and will then use Mozilla 1.4 (or whatever the current release is).

I use ie6 because I care about windows update. If ie is not your default browser, then you can't run windows update...:( :dead: :duh:

You can always manually download updates. Also you can run windows update if IE isnt your default browser, you just need to press no when it asks you to make it your default.

Windows Update uses IE on my XP box at work and home.
And my default browser on both is Mozilla

I think MS fixed this problem in a hotfix a while back.

I use Crazy Browser, which is an enhancement (tabbed browsing, popup blocking, and some more stuff) for Internet Explorer. I'm very happy with it.

Don't all the IE enhancers just tack themselves onto IE when you run them? There's no need to import existing bookmarks since it uses IE as a base, complete with IE's bookmarks. Give one a try! Avant Browser and Crazy Browser have been named so far, there are more but I think either of these two are great for y'all who can't be without IE. Note: they do not take over IE, they only add to it when you acticate their program. IE is not changed whatsoever.

one the reasons i find opera so great is that i can copy the directory away, reformat my disc and reinstall the OS then copy the opera folder back and all my bookmarks, settings, cookies, etc etc are still in the exact place as before i formatted.

    Netscape all the way!

Actually, I'm not too fond of Netscape. I'd prefer IE, with the exception that for some bizarre reason, IE is cursed on this computer. I ask it to load a website and it responds by pretending to load the website for about 2 minutes before it comes back with the wonderful "Server could not be found!" response. After I gave up hitting refresh 50 times until it suddenly decided that, yes, the server IS and always WAS there, I went with Netscape which has given me little trouble beyond some webpages looking a little odd.

I've tried uninstalling IE (no mean feat, believe me) and reinstalling it. No luck. I should really reformat this PC, but considering I'm getting a new one soon... =P

I don't know, I feel confortable with ie. I tried mozilla once (when it was in version 1.0 - last summer that is) but it didn't feel the same... dunno. What would you suggest to an ie addicted to try?:w00t:
