Hi guys, I'm new to the board and need a little help. I just downloaded and ran 3DMark06 for the first time, and the test resulted in a much lower than expected score, which was a 2400. I guess I can start by giving a complete rundown of my system, and test values, and just go from there. I would have posted a screen shot of the results, but I don't know how to do that.

    Anyway, here's my system:

    Dell XPS 400 - Pentium D 3.2Ghz
    Windows XP Home SP2
    2 GB's of RAM @ 667mhz (1GB x 2)
ATI Radeon X850 XT (PCIE) w/ Arctic Cooling GPU Cooler/Silencer along with Omega drivers, and ATI Tools software - Temps were 35 at idle and 45 during test (567/637)
    Dual HDD's Non-RAID - SATA 300
    20" Dell UltraSharp LCD monitor

That's the system, now here's the test results:

    3DMark Score: 2400

    SM2.0 Score: 1201
    GT1: 9.076 fps
    GT2: 10.935 fps

    CPU Score: 1533

    CPU1: 0.500 fps
    CPU2: 0.751 fps

I'm running the free version of 3DMark by the way, in case that matters. I just don't understand how it bombed so badly on the test. I play Doom3 set on "Ultra", and BF2 with all settings on High without any problems at all, so something's up for sure.

    Any ideas???

Actually, I'm not so sure that's a complete bomb of a score for this benchmark. My system, quite similar to yours but with less RAM and a X800 XL AGP card, didn't even hit 2000.

BTW, to do those screenshots, just hit the Print Screen key, then open an Image Editing program and Paste the contents into it. :)

did you do a project comparison of your system with others? 2400 doesn't sound like a bad score...right now. probably in 8-10 months, you will see scores double that. when 3dmark05 first came out, i only hit 2600, but now i'm getting around 5500.

3DMark '06 is the worst one yet for feeding the "UPGRADE NOW!" mentality.

I wouldn't really bother with it

It's normal. Your card doesn't support SM 3.0 so you didn't get any points from GT3 and GT4. And yeah, this 3DMark was only made to tell us all to upgrade.

rich boys or boys who have too much time on their hands? . i only use 3dmark05 to compare by system with other comparable specs just to see how i fare. your life should not revolve around 3dmark scores... as long as you're happy with the in-game performance, that's all that matters.
