Windows Media Player 11--which debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year and features a visually appealing interface, as well as impressive features and performance--is Microsoft's best jukebox to date.

Not that it was a grand feat to improve upon a generally disappointing string of versions, including the somewhat awkward version 10. Still, if Microsoft is ever going to seriously challenge Apple Computer's iTunes music empire, the time is now. With the addition of MTV's Urge, the jukebox's resident music service, WMP 11 (available today as a free beta download) certainly seems poised for battle.

i don't like the new method of library management

i wish they'd have an option to switch it back to the classic method - plus in the sidepane you cannot get rid of the album art, unlike previous versions, which REALLY annoys me

    rolled back to version 10

I like it so far. Though it seems to hang easily at times

i would use it if a couple of things were to happen
you had the option to turn off ALL album art - just wastes so much space (i do not like "form over function")
you had the option to return the library view to the "classic" method (despite what this article says, i still prefer that method)

I've tested and so far so good but the only reason i don't change from winamp is wmp11 can't open files or files on folders with unicode chars. previous versions didn't have this issue... i'll keep winamp for a while :)
