I cant get the bloody windows xp professional OS to shut down...
I havent done anything special really, just noticed it took forever to shut the bugger down.
Task Manager reveals nothing unusual, and I cant seem to find the cause...hmmmm
    any suggestion folks...sniff
I used the microsoft knowlege base articles and learned much but they didnt help me address the problem really..
sometimes I think my machine is possessed.

Getting any message boxes about errors or anything? Does it just sit and spin at shutdown - and what is on the screen when it 'freezes'?

Had the same problem and it turned out to be Alchohol 120. Uninstalled it and it stopped.

I have a similar problem with Norton Ghost if I install it and then install something else it will not shut down however I do have alcholol installed to but it causes no problem. Wonder if the 2 together are doing this. Hmmmm

Worth a test anyway. Norton does many strange things to PC. Try to go get some help from them to figure it out. Tech support is as none existant as peace in Iraq.
