Done with installing - but there is still no sound, when CMSS-3D is enabled. Removed old drivers, too.

Nope :bleh: I purchased it Dec 06. Maybe it's time to throw it into the sun ... or eBay :)

But thanks for your support !

Did you try it on different audio players?

Why, if I even have no sound in Windows ? Enabling CMSS-3D is like pulling the power cord out of my Soundsystem. :D

Could you then try to test channels one by one in ether windows control panel or in THX Console in 5.1 setup without enabling cmss?
If all channels work, then there could be something wrong with DSP processor or driver

I assume, that this is caused by a faulty DSP. Bad drivers would give me more matches at google :D The Card is working fine without CMSS-3D. Next step is to snatch my hotair ... in this way I could also replace badcaps. Are here some recommendable tutorials for hardmodding my card ?

yes - replace crappy opamps, and crappy capacitors.
DSP is usually very hot... Does your PC case have good cooling?

I thought on some tantalum caps. Got enough of them in the attic. But I don't know which opamps to use.

    There are 2 UCTB8 and 1 UCTB9 - I think, this should be enough.

I would not recommend perform full recap using only tantalum capacitors.
I recommend you to start with those suggestions first: Hotrodding the X-Fi: A Layman's Guide (No 56k)

Thanks - thats exactly what I am looking for.

Are there somewhere schematics/circuit diagrams available for my card ? This would be a great convenience for me.

AFAIK, no. You can only find datasheets for IC's used on your card, to follow their recommendations (that creative preferred not to do :) ).

    PS
You can use other OpAmps, not only lm4562. LM4562 produses very clear sound, which is for most users toooooooooooo clear ;)

You mean the "example" circuits noted in the datasheets ?

I thougt about placing some IC sockets for experimental purposes. Or is this a "not so good" idea ?

I will note it on my "to test" list ;) Btw. I also thought on some EF98 tubes. But I dont know if I could use them.

maybe. I didn't download datasheets, but I know that there are some basic schematics in them. for example, creative used lover capacitor values in some places comparing to datasheets, etc... just check if you wat to get max from your sound card (if you fix it ;) )....
bad idea is to resolder IC 100+ times

    PS
this is offtopic, so get back after you hard-mod your card a let us know how you fixed your card (by newer driver/by hard-mod) :)

A customer who bought a Asus Xonar in our store, had a problem with 5.1 playback - he told me, that he could fix that issue with an firmwareupdate.

Now I am thinking about that I could fix my card with a newer / other firmware, too. There is only one problem: officially there are no firmware updates to acquire. But maybe there is a way to get one inofficially ?

Updating firmware on creative card is very painful operation. You'll have to desolder eeprom IC, put it to some programmer, update, then solder back.
AFAIK, although, there is a jumper near EEPROM IC that protects IC from being programmed (without desoldering), there is no program that can perform it. And creative will newer release it.
And you will found no EEPROM dumps in Internet, you can only try to ask someone to make dump for you...

    BTW,
how is you progress with hardmodding your card? :)

If you are still having your issue with overdriven sound, then check OpAmp's power section (78m05 for +5, 7905 for -5).
I've just fixed similar issue with my speakers, where stereo works fine, while 5.1 not (insufficient power for opamps)
