good news, i just got my money back from that huge ordeal w/ xpcgear.com [IMG]

that means i can now buy a new vid card.

i have 470 bucks to spend, i need to know what is better, the x800xt or the x800xl. i've looked for benchmarks comparing them but only found one, and it was on a foreign site and only the x800xl was overclocked.

so, if i went w/ the xl it'd cost me about 420-450 bucks, and i would have to go pci-express (no biggie, my mobo just died anyways). the x800xt i'd get from visiontek and it would cost me around 470 and i would get the neo2 platinum.

if i went pci-express i would probably get the Chaintech nforce4 VNF4/Ultra for 130 bucks.

keep in mind i'm planning on getting a 90nm 3500+

what do you think, xl or xt?

I'd go PCI-E, but get yourself a DFI NF4 Ultra-D and a 3200 winnie, this will net you some better overclocks without spending as much, with a 3500 your basically paying for the 11x multi. I'd go for the XL or a used PCIE X800Xt, the XLs don't clock very well one the cores right now, but going PCIE will future proof your a bit more. I'd suggest those parts then later on add 2x512 of some nice TCCD ram if you can.

yah i know i'd only be paying for the 11x multiplier, but it's worth it to me. i'd rather not overclock my system as much.

i can't find the DFI NF4 Ultra for less than 200USD...a little too pricey for me.

    edit

    found it for 165on zipzoomfly...but it's harder to find pci-e xt's

    i'll keep looking though.

sorry for the DP, but i figured i'd post my conclusion.

winnie 3200+, dfi lanparty UT nf4 ultra-d, and a powercolor x800xl...more than likely.

    so long as you don't re-submit your scores, you'll keep it i guess .....If you re-submit w/your new set-up, you'll be under a new category.....AMD PRO stock i think.

w/ shipping the one on newegg is 540

i don't have that kind of cash though...if i wanted that kind of performance i would go w/ a visiontek x800xt and the neo2 platinum

I'd go with the Powercolor XL. Get the one with Vivo, just so theres a but more bang for your buck.

I'd be careful with the Chaintech board. I had one before this board and I had a couple probs with it, and Chaintech already has a new revision of the mobo available w/ active cooling on the nforce4 controller chip. Make sure anything you order has this, they run HOT to say the least (read a review on it where a board actually died from the heat, not sure if it was overclocked when it happened or not, I cant remember offhand).
